The Designer works in partnership with the Client Managers, Architects, Engineers, and CAD Technicians, and is responsible for producing high quality construction documentation using CAD/BIM software of various types.
The Designer consistently produces high quality construction documentation in accordance with the project schedule and standards.
They often mentor Designers and CAD/BIM Technicians on architectural design and technical software as well as construction assemblies and techniques in the built environment.
With offices located in Metro Detroit and Tampa we have the flexibility of in-office employment as well as the option for remote.

If these values describe you, we would love to have you join our team! Duties & Responsibilities Prepare complex Architecture and Engineering construction drawings for residential and commercial projects utilizing AutoCAD Architecture, and/or REVIT.
Perform fieldwork, documentation, research and drafting tasks of architectural and engineering data as requested by clients or managers.
Maintain dynamic communication with contractors, clients, staff and the general public for any architectural, engineering or construction issues.
Consistently apply Fieldstone's Quality Control procedures and takes ownership of their work.
Maintain FAE standards for file and folder management (including submittals, RFIs and other project records both electronic and paper).
Comply with Fieldstone and client-specific standards (CAD, File Management, etc.
).
Participate in occasional team meetings to help resolve project issues such as coordination, scheduling, and technical concerns.
Document time and expenses using Fieldstone's business management system.
Foster a culture of external and internal client service.
Practice Management Adhere to ethical standards and codes of professional conduct.
Develop professional and leadership skills within firm.
Comply with laws and regulations governing the practice of architecture.
Participate in community activities that may provide opportunities or design of facilities that reflect community needs.
Understand implications of project delivery technologies.

Understand implications of policies and procedures to ensure supervision of design work by architect in responsible charge/control.

Develop and maintain effective and productive relationships with clients and consultants.
Project Management Participate in regular progress meetings with design team.
Assist PM or APM in determining design fee budget.
Assist PM or APM in determining project schedule.
Assist PM or APM in obtaining necessary permits and approvals.
Assist PM or APM to perform constructability, bid ability, and construction sequencing review.
Track and identify scope modifications to the contract.
Evaluate appropriateness of building information modeling (BIM) for proposed project.
Manage implementation of sustainability criteria.
Programming & Analysis Establish sustainability goals affecting building performance.
Assist owner in preparing building program.
Determine design parameters for building engineering systems.
Analyze existing site conditions to determine impact on facility layout.
Prepare diagrams illustrating spatial relationships and functional adjacencies.
Prepare site analysis diagrams to document existing conditions, features, infrastructure, and regulatory requirements.
Consider recommendations from geotechnical studies when establishing design parameters.
Project Planning & Design Assist in performing building code analysis.
Determine design parameters for building engineering systems.
Oversee design integration of building components and systems.
Assist in selecting materials, finishes, and systems based on technical properties and aesthetic requirements.
Prepare design alternatives for client review.
Project Development & Documentation Communicate design ideas to the client graphically.
Prepare submittals for regulatory approval.
Communicate design ideas to client with two-dimensional (2-D) computer aided design software.
Communicate design ideas to client with three-dimensional (3-D) computer aided design software.
Construction & Evaluation Assist PM or APM with managing project and close-out procedures and documentation.
Complete field reports to document field observations from construction site visit.
Required Skills Advanced knowledge of residential and/or commercial construction techniques, construction documents, and CAD concepts.
General knowledge of building codes.
Advanced CAD/BIM drafting skills required.
Proficiency in Revit preferred.
Knowledge of 3D Modeling software such as 3D Studio Max, Viz, Sketchup, and/or Artlantis.
Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, and/or InDesign graphic software.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint.
Consistent ability to successfully meet deadlines.
Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing.
Ability to produce deliverables with little or no guidance.
Required Experience Education:
B.
S.
in Architecture, Engineering or Construction related field or significant experience in a professional environment drafting residential and/or commercial construction documentation.
2 to 5 years of experience.
2D and 3D experience in AutoCAD Architecture, Revit or Sapphire Build required.
