Summary:
The Research Scientist performs a variety of laboratory analysis using standard scientific techniques.
Primary responsibilities include conducting biological laboratory experiments, performing mouse breeding, genotyping, and surgeries on animals according to study protocols, as well as analyzing research data.
This position is grant funded.
Responsibilities:
Performs experiments using human cadaveric tissue, mammalian cell and tissue culture in vitro, electrophoresis of protein and nucleotide samples, microscopy and other modes of imaging, flow cytometry and other immunological methods, gene transfection using CRISPR/Cas9 technology; Performs statistical and other analyses on data.
Works on mouse breeding and genotyping; Performs surgery on animals for experimental purposes including pre-operative, intraoperative, and and post-operative procedures.
Maintains logs and records of laboratory techniques, observations, findings and results; Maintains laboratory equipment and inventories supplies.
Performs data entry and collection; Maintains project databases; Performs analysis using various programs and statistical software.
Performs other duties as assigned.
POSITION
Qualifications:
MINIMUM:
This position requires a Bachelor's degree in a natural, physical or medical science.
PREFERRED:
Biological laboratory experience; Research experience in Ophthalmology.
Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
