Job Description:
As a Technical Product Manager for API Onboarding, you will be responsible for guiding the API onboarding process, working closely with API producer teams, architects, engineers, and technical writers to ensure a smooth and successful API integration.
This role requires a deep understanding of API technologies, project management, and Agile methodologies.
Responsibilities:
API Onboarding Coordination:
Collaborate with API producer teams to gather the necessary information required to initiate the API onboarding process.
Candidate Assessment:
Work with API onboarding architects and engineers to review provided information, ensuring that the API aligns with onboarding criteria and is a suitable candidate for integration.
Proxy and Documentation:
Guide implementation engineers in creating the API proxy while working with technical writers to develop comprehensive API documentation.
Testing and Validation:
Collaborate with producer teams to test the proxy after implementation to ensure functionality and reliability.
Security Review:
Shepherd the producer team through the API security review and approval process, making certain that the API complies with security standards and best practices.
Production Release:
Confirm the API's readiness and oversee its release to production, ensuring minimal disruptions.
Requirements:
A minimum of two to three years of experience in API-related roles, including API onboarding, management, or development.
In-depth knowledge of various API types, with expertise in REST APIs; experience with SOAP and GraphQL APIs is a plus.
Familiarity and experience with API management platforms, with preference given to candidates with knowledge of Apigee.
Proficiency in software development life cycle (SDLC), Agile methodologies, and project management.
Comfort working with project management tools such as JIRA, documentation platforms like Confluence, and the Google suite of productivity tools.
