Database Administrator (Tier 2) with Security Clearance
The Database Administrator role requires a professional who can perform various tasks while working with other customers within the commandThe key responsibilities of the role are:
o Ensuring that servers are up and running correctlyo Completing backups as they should be doneo Maintaining data integrity on databaseso Ensuring the service accounts are active and not expiredo Updating the passwords of service accounts regularlyo Setting up backupso Working with other customers within the command to help them get their datao Helping with API type stuffo Ensuring security on the database servers and the databases themselveso Encrypting databaseso Maintaining keys To perform these tasks successfully, we need a person who has the following qualities:
o Strong Technical Knowledge:
The database administrator should have strong technical knowledge related to the SQL server, Windows Server, and other related technologiesThe person should be able to troubleshoot issues that arise and fix them quickly.
o Attention to Detail:
The person should have excellent attention to detail to ensure that data integrity is maintained, backups are completed, and all service accounts are up to date.
o Effective Communication Skills:
The person should have excellent communication skills to work with other customers within the command to help them get their data and to collaborate with other team members.
o Security Focus:
The person should be able to maintain security on the database servers and the databases themselvesThe person should be able to encrypt databases and maintain keys.
o Project Management Skills:
The person should have project management skills to help with Power Bi reporting based off of Shape data and other project-based workRequirementso Clearance Requirements:
Active TS/SCI clearance requiredo Education Requirements:
Noneo Certification Requirements:
o Oracle Certified Associate (OCA) 11go ORo MCSA:
SQL Server 2012/2014 ORo MCSA:
SQL 2016 Database Admin ORo MCA Experience Requirements:
o At least one year of experience in a database administration role performing Tier 2 level support with no less than four years working with databases.
o Database modeling and implementation.
o User interface development and user experience.
o Ability to produce visualization of data for leadership decision-making.
o Knowledge of at least one object-oriented programming language; such as Java, C++, or.
NET.
o Microsoft Office application skills; Microsoft Access knowledge is preferred.
o Strong oral and written communication skills.
o Microsoft SharePoint database integration experience is desired.
