Legal Project Assistant

POSITION
Summary:
This position supports the legal staff by assisting various members of the legal department with a variety of tasks and projects.
The Project Assistant will also complete legal tasks delegated to them by lawyers and paralegals.
These tasks may include correspondence or document preparation, including estoppels, default letters, and transactional documents.
Other duties may include gathering information, organizing files, filling out legal forms, updating spreadsheets, and performing data entry.

POSITION ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  1. Perform legal and administrative tasks assigned by Legal Department.
  2. Prepare and respond to written correspondence including, but not limited to, memos, minutes, form letters, spreadsheets, and reports, as needed.
  3. Prepare confidential correspondence, reports, and other complex documents.
  4. Support team members in assigned project-based work for legal department.
  5. Organize, file, and track legal documents and maintains files.
  6. Perform other duties as assigned or requested.

Education

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)

Experience

  • High degree of proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and internet software, including databases.
  • Three to five years of related experience including familiarity with real estate and legal jargon.
  • Preferred:
    law firm/corporate setting, QSR, or convenience industry experience.

Essential Physical Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret written information such as procedure manuals, Company communications, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to frequently use hands to finger, handle, or feel.
  • Ability to travel may be required to attend off-site training, meetings, and seminars.
  • Ability to sit for prolonged periods in one location, which may be restricted to the employee s workstation.
  • Ability to lift and/or move up to 30 pounds.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
