Middle School Language Arts Teacher - New Port Richey Campus Responsibilities include:
Plans effective lessons consistent with state and Academies curriculum framework(s) Identifies lesson objectives appropriate for the level of achievement of individual students, based on curriculum goals and selects appropriate materials Identifies effective procedures to assess attainment of lesson objectives Adheres to State and Academies' policies and procedures Supports the Academies' mission and goals Understands and demonstrates knowledge of Exceptional Student Education Follows requirements set forth in employment agreement Observes confidentiality relating to students, teachers and school Performs with a minimum of supervision Communicates effectively with students and parents to increase student achievement Responds reasonable to acts appropriately upon constructive criticism Engages in self-assessment and participates in professional development activities Demonstrates knowledge of subject matter Utilizes class strategies proven to be effective in the Teacher Evaluation Framework Uses instructional time efficiently, while employing the principles of continual quality improvement in an instructional setting with students Presents subject matter effectively, using technology where appropriate and available, while using appropriate skills and strategies that promote the creative/critical thinking capabilities of students Uses supportive data to arrive at a grade or indication of student progress, and uses technology to manage systems of instruction, record keeping and reporting systems where appropriate and available Establishes and maintains standards for acceptance for acceptable student behavior Provides specialized instructional techniques and media through individual and/or group sessions designed to meet the educational, social and emotional needs of the students Other responsibilities as directed by his/her immediate supervisor Collects student performance data for progress monitoring and reports student progress towards IEP/EP goals Participates in IEP meetings with parents and appropriate school and agency personnel Participates in eligibility determination meetings Participates in Professional Development activities relating to performing job responsibilities Demonstrates knowledge of Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) and implements all requirements Demonstrates knowledge of Access Points for Sunshine State Standards and Florida Alternate Assessment Plans and delivers instruction designed to assist students with disabilities Supervises teacher assistant in providing instruction for students, as required Provides transition planning for students with disabilities, as required Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree from a fully accredited college or university.
Possession of, or eligibility for, a Florida Educators certificate required by the Florida Department of Education.
This includes both certification in the appropriate exceptional student area(s) and any content certification as required by the State of Florida.
