Tampa, FL Tampa, FL Full-time Full-time $95,000 - $120,000 a year $95,000 - $120,000 a year Engineering Manager leads and supervises the Engineering efforts, manages project throughput, and coordinates project activities to support project On Time Performance.
The Engineering Manager must have excellent team leadership skills and experience to lead Project Development Teams within a fast-paced environment.
Additionally, a strong sense of urgency is required to support product development and Engineering deadlines.
This position requires a high level of product and industry knowledge and a demonstrated competency of Product design and basic electrical theory.
The following are duties and responsibilities for the position.
Other duties or functions may be assigned.
Collaborate with management, procurement, Account Services, Quality, Sales and marketing staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
Manage daily activities and priorities for engineering personnel to ensure projects stay on time.
Oversee all project management responsibilities Utilize project SOW's to ensure compliance with project goals for Design and Product validation.
Analyze technology, resource needs, and market demand, to plan and assess the feasibility of projects.
Support planning the installation, testing, of new products.
Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.
Recruit employees; assign, direct, and evaluate their work; and oversee the development and maintenance of staff competence.
Create and maintain product development methodologies to ensure compliance with all legal and safety related matters, as applicable.
Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing company policies, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
Lead Project Development Teams to established deadlines.
Monitor project schedules and reporting.
Manage changing priorities and deadlines.
Creates and maintain documentation for product history files.
Responsible for maintaining accurate design and drawing archives and revision history.
Travel to MFG's and perform site and quality inspections.
Manage engineering product development with manufacturers.
Maintain daily communication with MFG's to facilitate timeliness of quotes, tooling, and pilot production.
Establish and maintain relationships with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure competency of identified business partners.
Research, evaluate and propose potential manufacturers.
Support Product Assurance group to create QA procedures and documentation for production.
Research/evaluate new methods, tools and processes for continuous improvement efforts.
Responsible for high level of specific product knowledge.
Provide product training as required across company departments.
Conduct personnel reviews for direct reports (probationary, annual, etc.
) To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the following knowledge and skills:

Knowledge and experience with 3D CAD design.
Working knowledge design for manufacturing, Injection molding, machining, metal forming processes theory.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office and MS Project.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Self-starter and a team player.
5> years of experience performing Engineering Management support.
ISO 9000 experience a plus Education, experience, certificates, licenses.
Bachelor's degree from a college or university in Mechanical Engineering or Equivalent; and or 5
years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
PMP (Project Management Professional) Experience a plus.
Also.
Travel will be required to customer installations, or test sites, or other locations to support design efforts.
Travel overseas to suppliers will be required.
Estimated travel 20%-30% This position oversees Mechanical Engineers and Technicians.
