Construction Estimator

ESTIMATOR - CONSTRUCTION Definition:
A Construction Estimator is an individual who prepares cost estimates for commercial and municipal building projects.
An Estimator must rely on the use of construction plans and his own experience in the industry to prepare and analyze project budgets and spending.
Individuals with a degree in construction management, engineering or architecture tend to have a strong knowledge of building science and construction processes, which are both critical to successful estimate preparation.

Essential Functions:
Forecasts project costs by reviewing preliminary drawings and specifications while visiting the site before the project begins.
Gathers details and compiles data to estimate all construction costs according to specifications.
Considers raw materials, labor, equipment, tools, labor and transportation for estimations.
Helps determine necessary resources for projects based on cost estimates and budgetary constraints.
Analyzes how long it will take for completion of the project.
While reviewing blueprints and drawings, Estimator will also decide whether special equipment will be needed and will figure those estimates into the final budget.
Must be familiar with standard concepts, practices and procedures within the commercial building construction field.
Relies on judgment and limited experience to plan and accomplish goals.
Works closely with the Project Manager.
Qualifications and
Experience:
Previous experience estimating commercial construction projects into the $3 million range Experience with estimating software and spreadsheet design Ability to use CAD programs Exceptional communication skills Requires a Bachelor's Degree in a related field and 5-8 years of experience in the field or in a related area.
Experience in financial services and/or healthcare is strongly preferred due to build outs, Decommissioning, ADA and ATM projects Physical Demands:
Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a company laptop, iPad, phone, and other business machines While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk.
Generally, the job requires 70% sitting, 15% walking, and 15% standing.
Ability to communicate orally with management and other co-workers is important.
Talking, hearing and vision within normal ranges is important for conversations, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect building plans, blueprints and drawings.
Please note that climbing stairs is a physical requirement.
Some offices contain an elevator but one must be able to use stairs for fire drills and emergencies.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is typical of that of an office.
Individual may encounter frequent interruptions throughout the workday.
This job is performed in a generally clean and healthy environment.
Infrequent visits to jobsites and interior sites are also required for pre-construction walks.
Personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses and vest) and safety gear (including appropriate clothing, shoes, and gloves) are required on job sites.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
