Summary:
Under the supervision of an inspector or senior inspector, assure that test results used for quality control, verification, dispute resolution and acceptance of asphalt pavements are performed in accordance with the standard test methods.
To safely and effectively sample soil materials from the roadway, take earthwork density readings and record those findings in a density logbook.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following.
Other duties may be assigned.
1.
Perform field inspections as directed.
2.
Assist in various field measurements to document site source records, sampling and testing and communicate observations of construction activities in the field.
3.
Assist with making and checking engineering computations.
4.
Assures that job site concrete tests including quality control, quality assurance, verification, and dispute resolution tests for concrete construction, used as part of the acceptance program, are performed in accordance with the standard test methods, project specifications and other contract documents.
5.
To provide assistance to the inspector and or senior inspector to apply the various Standards and Specifications associated with earthwork testing and the proper recording and tracking of those test results in the FDOT Density Log Book.
6.
Transport material samples to/from laboratory facilities.
Required Education/Experience High school graduate or equivalent and be able to perform basic mathematical calculation and follow simple technical instructions.
Construction experience preferred but not required.
