Entry-level Water Resources Engineer

Overview / Responsibilities
Amec Foster Wheeler Environment & Infrastructure is seeking an Entry-level Water Resources Engineer to support watershed management, stormwater design, and water quality improvement projects in the Tampa, FL or Lakeland, FL office. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university. Master's degree a plus. GIS training or knowledge is desired, and experience with ICPR, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, SWMM, considered beneficial. Must have an Engineering Intern or Engineer-In-Training designation or be able to obtain within 6 months.
Key Responsibilities
Serves as engineer intern on water resource related projects
Organizing, scheduling, and prioritizing assignments and tasks
Performs standard or routine calculations. Responsible to input data into and / or run standard or, in some cases, advanced computer programs under supervision
Preparing and checking project design, calculations, and drawings under direct supervision
Performs increasingly complex field sampling observations and data collection assignments under limited supervision of more experienced field personnel
Assist with preparing engineering reports documenting the work performed and findings of investigations
Compiles information from reports and published documents. Evaluates and / or analyses the compiled information following standard methods or specific instructions
Skills / Qualifications
0 2 years of prior related work experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field required
Engineer-in-Training Certificate or ability to obtain within 6 months
Experience with desktop and industry-specific software (e.g., MSOffice, ESRI GIS, and ICPR) desired
Must have sound written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work in varying environments (office, lab and field settings).
Ability to establish effective internal and external working relationship
Ability to communicate clearly with clients, supervisor or project manager regarding work assignments required
Valid Florida driver's license and must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy
