Physician (Chief of Community Care Service)

The Chief position is located at the James A. Haley VA Hospital and reports to the Chief of Staff. The selectee has clinical oversight responsibility for the provision of timely and continuous high-quality patient care related to Community Care delivered to patients throughout the JAHVH community and in close coordination with clinical services at JAHVH. The selectee is accountable for the effective and efficient management and supervision (planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating) of clinical and administrative Staff within Community Care. The duties and responsibilities of the Chief position is to assist with Community Care are to include but not limited to:
Ensures timely disposition of inpatient transfers from Non VA hospitals in the community to James A. Haley VA Hospital (JAHVH). Coordinates services between JAHVH providers and providers of the Non VA Hospital. Serves as clinical expert for other NVCC staff regarding consults, claims, appeals and other interdepartmental functions. Collaborates and communicates with VA providers, Non VA providers and interdisciplinary staff members. Reviews and evaluates complex clinical information related to diagnosis, condition and treatment. Provides clinical leadership and expertise for the coordination of JAHVA's NVCC program. Serves as intimate-knowledge resource for NVCC federal regulations, VHA guidelines, medial review criteria, utilization management processes, clinical documentation requirements, current standards of care, and compliance guidelines. Assures safe transfer of Veteran from non-VA hospitals to JAHVH. Utilizes advanced clinical education, experience and skills for improving the understanding of Veteran's clinical condition. Promoted professional teamwork amongst NVCC administrative staff and health care professionals:
physician assistants (PAs); Nursing staff (ARNPs); physicians (MDs/DOs). Maintain current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Remain current in BLS training (training/recertification every 2 years) through CPR as defined in the latest edition of the BLS Instructor's Manual from the American Heart Association Meet CME goals. Alerts Patient Aligned Care Team (PACT) staff regarding Veteran's discharge plans. Communicate NVCC policies and procedures to VA and non-VA facilities. Facilitate transfer and discharge of Veteran to VA facility in concordance of patient stability. Minimize non-VA hospital procedures and lengths of stay decreasing costs and bed-days of care. Serve as physician consultant to NVCC nurses, allied health care personnel and other physicians in other medical services. Promote VA standards of care, due diligence of care and resource utilization. Ensure Veterans receive a high standard of non-VA care, and mitigate risk, costs by facilitating transfer and/or discharge when appropriate and indicated. Apply government federal regulations and VA policies in accordance with appropriate clinical criteria in making eligibility determination for VA benefits. Completes Clinical Review Summaries on Veteran's disposition in timely manner. Performs delegated administrative tasks as directed. Complies with all CPRS documentation procedures, including timeliness standards for documentation. Minimizes reversals on appeal review opinions by Board of Veterans Appeals (BVA). Complies with all national and local performance measures and quality indicators, including timely evaluations and documentation. Adheres to the VA Strategic Plan by implementing the goals and objectives set forth by the VA Department. Practices individual professional excellence, within clearly defined scopes of practice. United States Citizenship:
Non-citizens may only be appointed when it is not possible to recruit qualified citizens in accordance with VA Policy. Degree of doctor of medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine. The degree must have been obtained from one of the schools approved by the Department of Veterans Affairs for the year in which the course of study was completed. Current, full and unrestricted license to practice medicine or surgery in a State, Territory, or Commonwealth of the United States, or in the District of Columbia. Completion of residency training, or its equivalent, approved by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs in an accredited core specialty training program leading to eligibility for board certification. Experience:
Knowledge of VA Community Care and Business Management preferred. Reference:

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
